Auburn Public School is very lucky to be continuing the implementation of Jolly Phonics, Spelling and Grammar in 2020. These programs are for all students K-6 and all teachers have been trained in their implementation.
Jolly Phonics is for Kindergarten students, to help them learn to read, write and recognise sounds, letters and words.
Jolly Spelling and Jolly Grammar are for students in Years 1-6, to build up and consolidate their skills in reading, writing, spelling and grammar.
We have a Jolly Consultant, Miss Tina, who regularly visits the school and has continued to work via zoom during COVID restrictions in 2020.
Stage 3 participated in online zoom sessions with Miss Tina (the Jolly Phonics consultant). Miss Tina demonstrated explicit lessons in specific areas of grammar such as, the use of colons and simple, continuous and perfect tense. Stage 3 then practised using colons and the different types of tenses in their writing. The students were very engaged and enthusiastic with this new way on learning ‘online’.
