After School Activities
There are a variety of after school activities and opportunities that students can participate in, all of which have specific focuses that assist students to develop a range of different skills and habits.
Homework Centre
Mondays Years 1 & 2 , 3:05-4:05pm and Wednesdays Years 3-6, 3:05-4:05pm
Auburn PS has established an after school Homework Centre Program for students in Stage 1, 2 and 3.
It is held on Mondays from 3.05 to 4.05 p.m. for students in Stage 1 on the K-2 Side, and on Wednesdays from 3:05 to 4:05 p.m. for students in Stages 2 and 3 on the 3-6 side.
It assists students, who have been accepted into the program, with their set homework and encourages good homework habits. This will assist students to see the benefits of establishing a routine, including quiet reading time and then transfer these habits into the home.
All parents are given an opportunity to register their interest in the program, with around 120 students accepted for each Term.
There are three classes, each with a tutor and a bilingual support aide. The session starts with students completing their set school homework followed by some literacy or numeracy activities and will finish with quiet reading time.
After School Sport
Mondays Years 3-6, 3:05-4:05pm and Wednesdays Years K-2, 3:05-4:05pm.
After School Sport runs for 1 hours on Monday afternoons for Years 3-6 students and Wednesday afternoons for Kindergarten to Year 2 students. Each term there is a new group of students and a new skill and sport focus. We have been lucky enough to be receiving Sporting Schools funding in order to continue this valuable program and book in external coaches to run the sessions.
After School Sport in targeted towards students who would not normally participate in sport outside school hours. The games and activities are designed to be fun and build skills, confidence and positive attitudes in physical activity. Students participate in variety of different sport activities such as tennis, NRL, baskbetball, soccer, cricket.
